When looking at joints, the first thing we look at is joint capacity. How much workspace does your joint/joints have? What’s holding you back is your internal environment.
When you have an injury, there are anatomical consequences. The body doesn’t heal them back to optimal function, it just heals them back to some sort of function. After injury the body just doesn’t lay down tissue perfectly as it was before. It’s not enough to train and strengthen that area, it’s not specific enough to the exact tissue that underwent injury. We can use specific forces, with specific intent, under specific durations and effort to influence how to heal. If all your doing are things to reduce pain, that’s doing nothing to specifically rehab the anatomy that has been damaged.
